Drum kit hire London - The Social.
Small venue, big names.
We’re back and raring to go from our summer break, and it’s time to catch up and tell you about a rental I did a couple of weeks ago.
Also, I thought it would be informative to give you a bit of an insight as to what happens on the day of your rental.
I received a call from Joe O’Neill, who is the director at Prestige Management. He currently looks after the Vamps and New Hope Club. Joe told us he was organising a charity fundraiser at The Social in central London and would we supply a drum kit for the evening.
The Social is a 250-capacity venue in Little Portland Street and is a popular music venue that has hosted acts including The Arctic Monkeys, Adele, and Fatboy Slim.
Drum kit requirements.
The event required a four-piece drum kit which consisted of a 22 x 18″ bass drum, 12 x 9″ rack tom, 16 x 16″ floor tom, and a 14 x 6″ snare drum. The kit we supplied was a Tama Starclassic Walnut Birch in Arctic Blue Oyster. To this, I added an S.L.P G-Walnut snare drum to compliment the kit.
All of our drum kits come with a hardware pack included that consists of - 3 cymbal stands, 1 hi-hat stand, 1 snare drum drum stand, 1 bass drum pedal (single), 1 drum stool and a drum mat.
Should you need extra cymbal stands or other multiple pieces of hardware, these can be provided for a small additional charge.
Load in.
Load-in was between 17:00-18:00. Parking can be tricky when supplying kits to central London, but thankfully, there was an unloading bay outside, so it made my job a lot easier.
I arrived shortly after 17:00 and unloaded. I got the kit downstairs to the stage area and set about building the kit. As it was a four-piece kit, it didn’t take long before it was ready. A quick final tune and the paperwork completed it was time for me to go and have dinner and enjoy what London has to offer of an evening.
A few hours later, It was time to go and collect the kit. I had a pick-up time of 23:30, so I made my way back to the venue. The charity event had just finished, so I went downstairs and began to break the kit down and pack the drums back into their protective cases. While I was doing this, I had a few people compliment the Tama kit to say how great it sounded. It’s always lovely to have positive feedback from the jobs we do, and I appreciate people taking the time to comment.
Time to head home.
It had just gone midnight by the time I had loaded up. I said my goodbyes and hit the road home. It always amazes me how much traffic there is in London during the early hours but, at least it was moving!
Thankfully the journey home was straightforward, and it was the end of a tiring but satisfying day. After a quick cuppa, it was time for bed, as I had a drum kit installation to carry out in the morning.
